What Christmas Is?

During the American Civil War, it was a custom for every home to hang a big star outside the window, when a soldier-son died at battle.

A little child was out walking with his grandfather one evening. He was curious when he saw such a star.

“Grandpa,” he asked, “why is there a star hanging outside that window?”

“O that,” replied Grandpa. “That means that family has given a son for our country in the war. He died that we may be free.”

They walked silently for a while, the little boy thinking deeply to himself. Suddenly he burst out,

“Grandpa, look! Look!” Pointing to the sky, he shouted, “A big shining star in the sky! GOD MUST HAVE GIVEN HIS SON FOR US!”

Grandpa smiled and nodded his head thoughtfully, “Yes, indeed He has!”

YES, INDEED! GOD DID GIVE US HIS SON. THAT’S WHY THERE IS A CHRISTMAS. LOVE CAME DOWN AT CHRISTMAS IN THE PERSON OF JESUS.

The Lord Jesus Christ, God’s Son, was born on Christmas Day to become the Saviour of the world:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in

Him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

That’s why Christmas is such a happy occasion. Love always brings joy, peace and happiness. Christmas is meant to be God’s blessing to us.

1. Christmas Means Love

Love is the air we breathe at Christmas time. Christmas reminds us that the holy God loves sinners, and wishes to forgive us all our sins. That’s why He sent His Son Jesus to be our Saviour. Christ came all the way down from heaven to earth to show us how much God loves us:

“ God proves His love towards us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

(Romans 5:8)

2. Christmas Means Hope

Christ came to die on the Cross for our sins so that we may “not perish”. That means we will not be judged for our sins and be subsequently punished in hell. This is grace, which we received because the Lord Jesus died to forgive us. In other words, we may be saved from our sins when we repent and believe in Jesus as our Lord and Saviour.

3. Christmas Means Life

The promise is that when we believe in Jesus, we will “have eternal life” (John 3:16). Eternal life is first of all “quality life”. It is divine life. God is eternal and the life He grants us is “eternal life”. This is in contrast to our miserable “human life”, which is sinful, full of misery and unhappiness.

Eternal Life also means being able to live forever with God in Heaven one day. But right here

and now, it means that we can have a relationship with God and enjoying His fellowship. This brings meaning in life, joy and peace, because God is always with us.

Dear Reader, let this Christmas be special to you. Let L-O-V-E come into your heart and life. Invite the Lord Jesus to be the Saviour of your life by repenting of your sins and receiving Him as your Lord and Saviour.

You could pray a prayer of faith, something like this:

“Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for coming into the world that first Christmas Day to be my Saviour. I believe You are the Son of God and died for my sins on the Cross. Please forgive me all my sins. I accept You by faith into my life as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You, Lord Jesus for saving me. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.”

Dr K. B. Tan

‘All this took place to fulfill what the Lord has said through the prophet: “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” – which means, “God with us.” ’

I survived!!

Just had the youth evangelistic chalet last weekend. Had tonnes of fun and laughters. The attendance was good, about 30 of them turn up. Was quite a hectic week, got to check out on early sunday morning to rush to church, then from church we went to the prison for our caroling. After caroling, we had prata near lower pierce reservoir. After which we went to upper pierce reservoir and had a stroll there. The whole day was full of activities. But Thank God that everything went well. Thank God that I had the chance to talk to Aunty Dolly, whom i met at the chalet. Got a chance to understand her current situation and invited her to our church.

Had a meaningful and interesting talk by Mr Y during this morning's sermon. He talked bout the real basic needs that we need. When we commited a sin or did something bad against someone. We will always seek forgiveness from the someone. But the real forgiveness we need, is God's forgiveness. Every sin we've commited, every wrong we've done, we sin it against God.
God sent down his Son, to rescue us from sin. In response to God's mercy showered on us, may all of us live a life of obedience and faith..

In todays days and time, it's easy to lose sight of the true meaning of Christmas. In todays time, people see Christmas as Santa Claus, a jolly fat old man with a white beard and a red suit, who brings gifts to good children on Christmas Eve, about snow, about turkey. The real and true meaning of Christmas is about one special night. One special night, when God sent his Son down to earth. One special night when our savior was born, to rescue us from sins, God's wrath and judgement. One special night..... Matthew 1:18-25

I'm BACK!!

Ok! It's been a while since I have the time to blog. Took leave for today and tomorrow, really need a good time to rest. Haven't been sleeping much the past 2 days, cos I can't miss out my champions league actions. Happy for my Liverpool and Arsenal to go through the 1st qualifying stage. But poor Man U, kick of out Champions League and also no chance for Uefa Cup. What a sad story, first time in 10 yrs they are not in the last 16. A way to console themselves, ppl are saying now they can concentrate better on the league and domestically.

Finally! Many things to look forward to. 2006 is getting nearer. Christmas is getting nearer. Youth evangelistic chalet and prison carolling is also getting nearer. Spent quite alot of shopping recently, shopped for clothes and stuffs. Thought of getting a notebook also. haha $$$$$$

Well, I'm not a guy who enjoying reading. But surprisingly I have just finished read a book given to me for bdae. The title of the book is "A Fresh Start", by John Chapman, a Australian pastor. Find this part of the book pretty interesting and would like to share it with all. In this part of the book, the writer talks about "Will God have us back?" It begins with this story:

2 boys ran away from home. One was 10 years old and the other only 7. They had had a disagreement with their father and they decided to run away. They hid in a cave near a river at the back of their hoome and stayed there until it grew dark. They then decided to go back home, having taught their father a big enough lesson. When he saw them coming around the corner of the house, the father swept them in his arms and said, "Hello, you 2. Great to have you back home again. I thought you'd left, but I'm so glad you haven't. Come and have some tea."

The question is: suppose we do come back to God and truly repent. We confess that we have rebelled against him and we declare our intention to try to live under Jesus' Lordship. Will God forgive us? Will He have us back? God answer is: "Because my Son, Jesus Christ, has died for you, I wil forgive you and take you back as a true friend. (John 1: 7,9, Romans 5: 1,2) Both repentance and faith are gifts which come from God. The life and work of Jesus is so completely acceptable to God, you and I can be completely acceptable also. It is as if when we turned to the Lord Jesus in repentance and faith, we were given 2 certificates. On the first one it reads: "This is to certify that the bearer has lived a perfect life". On the other it says: " This is to certify that the bearer has paid the full penalty of all sins". Isn't it such a good news that through Jesus' work on earth, all of us can be sinless and holy before God, to be reconciled with God. So in response, I urge all believers to obey God and live a life of obedience and faith. Stop sinning and repent. Amen.

its finally here..

Ok, back to business. 4 days since I last blogged, was kind of tired and lazy to do so. Things were alright though, just that my health condition got worse. Sometimes when things dont seem right, when u suffer or undergo trials, when the dark tunnel ahead of you seems to be never ending, its just hard to keep the faith. But I know I have to and I will. For God choses His own time to do His work. No father will do harm to his own children. Therefore, I believe that my heavenly father will not too. He knows what is best for me. When I dont see His plan and just dont understand, all I have to do is to trust His heart.

Suan and Aylmer bought me Jay's new album, November's Chopin. Wanted to buy it myself, but Aylmer insist in getting it for me :) 10 new songs plus 2 songs from Initial D movie. Really a great album, all the songs are so nice! He is just so talented. He writes his own song, compose his own melody, he plays piano, viola, guitar, cello and jazz drum, He raps and has a nice voice.

16-11-05, finally got my nano. The nano is so so so small and sexy. Its so thin that as if you drop it, it will break into half. Dun get misleaded by the pictures you see online, you really hvae to hold it in your hands to know how small it is. Read about 100+ reviews online regrading the nano, how easily it scratches and stuffs. So once I got my nano, I immediately went to hunt for a good case to protect it. Was in deilemma though, cos certain users rate a case as good and some the opposite. In the end, I bought a transparent, plastic coffin for my nano. Looks pretty cool though, and I believe that it really protects the nano and screen from scratches.

After camp, went to pastor's place for bs. Met En Ying and Joanna there. Ray and Yi Fen didnt join us, as they had to prepare for exams, Andrew and Wai went to Australia, Ivan was not feeling well, so the bs is only left with me, Carlson, En Ying, Joanna and Janice. We did Romans 14 - 15:13, and it was a fruitful one. I've learnt that when the bible says do not judge others, it doesnt mean that we do not judge at all. We are only not allowed to judge things that are disputable. Things that has no right or wrong stated in the bible. But we can judge wad we know from the bible. Its not that we do not judge at all. Also learnt that we should not look down on the weak, but accept them as they are. Things that we do, should not be pleasing to us, but instead, pleasing to others and to God. I know its easy to say all this, but when it comes to applying them to our daily lifes, it always seems so difficult and impossible. But I do believe that is the reason why Jesus gave us the Holy Spirit. Just pray that all of us will be able to apply what we've learnt week in and out, into our daily lifes. Always be prayerful and read the bible consistently. May all of us continue to encourage and spur one another, as we follow the path of Jesus. Amen

Argentina 2 - England 3

Not much to blog about today. Met Ray for lunch before bs. Talk to him about some topics which I found interesting in. Was late for the lunch though. Due to the always jamming Eunos. Think maybe the real meaning of Eunos means traffic jam or slow traffic. lol. Before bs, I recieved the cd that Aylmer and Chong Suan bought for me, Jay Chou's latest. After bs, cleaned up the room with Ray and had dinner with him and An Muo Shi (Amos) at mac. Chatted about my blog and some funny happenings of our life. After that went to watch Initial D at Can This place. Before the show could finish, both she and curry already fell asleep, leaving me to off the player and go back to watch Argentina vs England.

********************

Argentina vs England match, one of the big match from all the other international friendlies. The match was pretty exciting. Crespo scored the first goal, and Rooney equalised few minutes later. After Samuel headed Argentina back in front after half time, to lead England 2 - 1, I tot that's it, England has lost the match. Its all over. But who knows, mighty Owen headed the equaliser at 86th minute, bringing the match to a tie. Drawing in an away game against Argentina is already quite incredible, but 2 minutes before full time, Owen headed a cross from sub, Cole, and England leads 2 - 3 and eventually won the match. Was quite relieved that Owen headed the ball in, before clumsy Crouch while trying to head, lost balance and was pushing Owen and another Argentine defender. What a match it was!

********************

A big thanks to Andrew, for leading today's bs and making sure that we really
understand it clearly. Did Romans 12 today. Learnt about God's mercy on us; Jesus' death on the cross that brings us salvation, escaping from God's wrath, gaining of righteousness through faith, gift of Holy Spirit, future glory and many more. Also learnt of the difference between God's mercy and grace. Mercy - God not giving us what we deserve (death, judgement). Grace - God giving us what we do not deserve (salvation, eternal life). Romans 12 helped me understand more bout God's will, to obey the Gospel and to be more like Christ. Another important lesson is about our relationship with one another in church and outsiders. We should not be self-centered with our fellow bros and sis in Christ. We should be more people-centered, using our gifts, given to us in accordance to God's grace, to serve one another. To the world, bless those who persecute us, rejoice with those who rejoice, mourn with those who mourn, do not repay evil with evil, live in harmony with one another. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil wih good. I know that it's not easy to do all these, but pray that we'll always cling on and refer to the Bible for guidance, strength and faith to be more Christ-like. Amen.

A Foolish Day

Hi, thank you for visiting http://supermond.blogspot.com. Once again its me, Richmond, welcome to another interesting eposide of my daily life and what I have learnt in my christian walk. To begin, I shall talk bout last night. =b Spent the night talking to ray (girrafe) and yifen (mou which means mouse) . Oppz =X Sorry ray and fen, I can keep secrets, but i think this is a secret you must share with all of us, since we talked about our nicknames during retreat camp. Know you guys won't mind also. Ok back to last night. We were talking about how we should blog as a christian. I 've learnt that I have to be careful of what I say here, that it does not stumble any of my christian readers, but encourage them by my sharing my daily life and what I 've learnt. In a way, I also hope that non christian reader can get to know more about Christ, of what he had done for us.

********************

Fen told me that both of them have been undergoing some talk
about " Love, Sex and Marriage" by Phillip Jensen. Find those topic interesting, cos as a christian, our view to all these things will and must be different. Ray had the cds, wanted to borrow to burn a copy of it at first. But I remembered wad I've learnt in Romans 13, submission to authorities. Small things to the world, like piracy issues (downloading songs or movies online) and cheating on parking coupons are also part of our submission. So I dropped the idea of burning it and made my way to ARPC (Adam Road Prebyterian Centre) for their friday service and also to get the cd. (shall talk more of their service later..)

********************

This morning was really so boring. Wasted my time slacking at home, eating, serving the net, watching tv when I can use it to do more meaningful things, like reading God's word. Mum bought mini cornetto last night, so went to try it. The ice cream is so small lor, size of my middle finger.

********************

Left house for ARPC at 1830 as I calculated that the whole journey should take about 1 1/2 hrs. In the end I was late for service, not due to my miscalculation, but due to the mrt train. Had some techinical problems, keeps moving a bit then stop for few mins. Happened all the way from bedok to city hall. Wasted about 15 - 20 mins. When i finally found my way there, its already 2020. Own my way to the hall, I met this guy in his 30's I think, he keeps smiling at me, giving me the warm and welcomed feeling. To my surpirse, only when the sermon starts, then do I know that he's actually one of the pastor from ARPC. Seating there alone listening to his sermon, found it qutie interesting and he has a sexy voice. haha, so when I listen thru the sermon, it was as if I am back at my church, listening to pastor andrew. (cos his sermon also interesting and has a sexy voice, LOL) Their service was different from ours, as they only sang a few songs but they have a live band at the left hand side of the hall. After service, get to know ray's friend, Yong Jie. He is very friendly and nice guy, talked to him for a while but didn't talk much as I have to rush to send aunt tracy and uncle william's flight. And this was where the real excitment began.

********************

Actually it's nothing really exciting la. Rather foolish. If not my topic will be a exciting day not a foolish day. haha sorry, my bad. After service, took 74 to dover mrt. Then half way thru, b4 city hall, I was thinking; if I alight at city hall and take 36 from suntec, it would have been faster if I take to bedok then transfer to 24. So I happily alight at city hall at head towards suntec. Was kind of funny though, as it was late, about 2030, so most of them shops are closed. As I walk thru city link, everybody is like walking towards the station, I am one of the very very very few to walk the oppo direction. When i finally reach suntec, noticed tat there are lots of police. All weaing a funny cowboy hat of their head, wonder what's the big event.. International cowboy day? The usual route where 36 stops in front of the convention hall was blocked. So I went around asking the "cowboys", funny thing is that they blocked the road, but they do not know anything about the bus service that is provided.

So I walked towards marina square bus stop, where bk and lys is. Saw 3 bus conductors, so asked them for directions. So I listened to them and wait for 36 at the bus stop. After a while, bus came, happily board the bus, only then did I realize that this bus is going towards orchard, I will be making one big round. What a fool am I? So alight at city hall, took a train instead. When I stop at city hall, it was quite late already but I'm still confident that I can reach airport on time. When I reach tanah merah, I remembered that the officer at the control station from bedok told me that the last train to airport is at 2330. At that time, it was already 2340, so called Amos and explained to him what happened, that I'm not going down anymore, cos if I take 24, plus waiting time, there's no point for me to come. When I go down the escalator, towads the underpass, then I saw on the lcd screen; 3 mins to train to airport. So i quickly went back to wait for the train. What a fool am I again??

Finally reach the airport, saw everyone. Bid my farewell to aunt tracy and uncle william. Get to know that it was aunt liza's bdae and also that aunt joan's was just 1 day before. We cut and eat her bdae cake, took photos and prayed for aunt tracy and uncle william. Promised them to take care and look after Amos for them, haha. So in the end took a lift from uncle alan.

********************

Ok, now its today's learning point. The sermon outline was taken from 2Peter 1: 12-21. After the sermon, I became aware of our problem, amnesia. Not the usual amnesia, but christianity amnesia. The problem of us forgetting of the past, present and future. Of what Christ had done for us, our responsibilities to Him now and what God has planned for us in our future. By not remembering, there's a betrayal in our relationship with God. It will become insignificant, meaningless. Fellow bros and sis in Christ, ever wonder why we spend years after years going thru the different books in the Bible over and over again. It's bcos we do not need new teachings, the only way to counter our amensia problem, and what we need is constant reminding and refreshing one another of what God had done for us. He had sent his Son down to earth, to die for us on the cross, He had taken all our sins and carried them upon himself. Its only thru this, that makes reconciliation with God possible. His resurrection, victory over death, gave us hope, hope of eternal salvation.

Jesus's first coming, he came down as a weak, vulnerable and unnoticed baby. But when Jesus comes back for the 2nd time, he will be powerful, majestic, glorious and victorious. We have to consistently look back at what God had done, so that we can also look foward for the eternal kingdom God had prepared for us. In conclusion, there are 2 B's for us, in response to what God had done. Always to Believe and Behave like Jesus. Amen

An Awkward Day

I took leave today, thinking that I can go get my nano. Early morning the singnet technician came and gave me the voucher. I arranged for him to come at 10, was still worrying that he might be late, causing me to be late for my med appt too, but guess what time he came? He came at 0930, when I am still sleeping soundly, had a late night, slept at 3+. Ok, back to my nano. I took leave thinking that after he pass me the voucher, I can go down to the shop to get my nano. Who knows that it is only available after 16 Nov. Haiz =( Think I will go get my ezgoing nano case first. Need some help here, I cant decide which color is nice. So those who read this please kindly post some comments on which color should i get. Thanks! Suppose to have orange and green, but dun know why its not available on the website.

Today is the most awkward day of my life!! Went to CGH for med appt for my rashes and skin problem. For the first time the waiting time was quite fast. Went into the doctor's room and suprised to see another trainee doctor inside. Both are females. =b The awkard thing is that my rashes are just below my navel. Then the doctor told me to pull down my boxers to show her how serious it was. After looking she asked me to pull lower to my pxxxx hair area (she thought that it was infected as well) . So I got no choice but to do so, having 2 females looking at that area. I was feeling so so so awkward and frozen at that moment. I don't even dare to look down. HAHA. A thing to be happy for was that I'm given 2 days MC to rest at home. But this happiness doesn't come alone. I'm having problem trying to think of how to explain this to my specs in camp, cos lately I have been given MC quite often. But the officers and sgts just don't understand. Will someone choose to be sick, when he can be healthy? No one right? Somemore the MCs are given by hospital specialists and my camp's medical officer. Not from some private clinic where they give MC easily. My cases are all real, so I'm not bothered when ppl say i zao geng (act sick). They just don't understand. As if I have a choice to choose. Who doesn't want to be healthy, right? NS is just 2 yrs, but my life still carry on after that. I don't wish to make myself so sick just bcos of NS.

********************

After appt, when home to rest. As usual first thing I do is empty my pockets and turn on computer. Saw Jasmine online, she is one of my primary school friend. Lost in touch but recently get to chat with her in friendster, saw her last week at heartland mall also. Quite surprised that we chatted quite alot and don't feel shy or awkward, cos we don't really talk much in primary school. And its like after 7 - 8 yrs, the first time we really chat with each other. So its amazing. Haha. Talking about amazing. She kept saying that I'm amazing. She's amazed bout the things I know about her. LOL =O Chatted with her and melissa online the whole afternoon. It was also raining the whole afternoon. Super mega hyper loud thunders roaring around. Thank God for the rain which makes the weather cooler :)

********************

Have been praying alot for my health recently. My skin problem, nose problem and also for my wisdom tooth. Especially my skin problem. It keeps coming and going and I am quite annoyed and disturbed by it. =( Really affected my life alot. Feel very stress about it, sometimes even thought that the only way to solve it once and for all is to die? :X But really thank God for the Holy Spirit guiding me. I realize that dying will not solve everything. I will only die when Christ has finish His work in me. And I shouldn't be too troubled by the illness and how other ppl look at me. Our sufferings in this world is only temporary, so I shouldn't be too bothered by it. Its peace, joy and all the good things that are waiting for me in heaven that I should look foward to. Thank God for the cross, that makes all this possible, to be able to look foward to our future with great peace and joy. Amen.

A Fruitful Day

Ok, why am I starting up a blog again? Guess I'm too bored. Another day of my 750 days of NS had passed. Woke up late this morning, spent the night talking to pix and watching spidy 2. Reached camp at 0820 when I'm suppose to be there by 0745. Thank God that the specs did not question or scold me. Spent the the whole day at camp doing my bs (bible study). There was nothing much to do, and I was so bored that I've completed my bs for the next 2 weeks as well. (lol, hardworking right?)

After camp, I went to Wai's place to join them for bs. First time to Wai's place, its really a nice, cosy and well decorated home. Just nice for Wai, Maria and little Elliot, a small family of 3. Elliot was having his dinner on his high chair with a green froggy bib. He kept smiling to me and talking to himself when we are discussing bout some issues. Elliot is so smart and cute. First time hear him speak today, he called Wai "Daddy!!" HAHA. When Wai asked him to close the kitchen door, he immediately put his toy on the floor and start to close the door. (smart right!) After dinner, Wai helped Elliot brush teeth and I took a video of it. (so cute..)

During bs, Wai offered us some thai dessert. Its like ang gu kuay shaped into different fruits. Inside the fruits are green bean paste. Its texture is a bit of plastic and rubbery, but it taste not bad. From what I can see, there are tomatoes, chillies, brinjals, cabbages, mangoes, carrots and jambu? Can't really tell what the other fruits are.

Today's bs is very meaningful and fruitful. We did Romans 13 and we learnt about submission to authorities and to love our neighbor as ourself. Authorities are established by God and they are His servants to do us good. If we rebel against the authorities, we are also rebelling against God. Also learnt that we must accumulate a continuing debt of love for one another. Not just loving our friends and loved ones, but also to our enemies as well. In Romans 12, we learnt not to repay evil with evil. If our enemy is hungry, feed him. Give him drink if he is thristy. Love does no harm and this fulfills the law. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. We also learnt that our salvation is nearer , we do not know when Jesus 2nd coming will be, therefore we need to be always prepared for it. Stoping sinning and do what is right before God. For our present belongs to darkness and our future belongs to the light. If we belong to the future, we should live in the light of Christ. Fellow brothers and sisters of Christ, in response to all these, we should focus our lifes on Jesus and not on our nature sinful desires. = )
